The Artist

Indu Santhosh is a sensitive and thinking dancer whose dedication, hard work and holistic approach to learn the art form have helped her blossom into a seasoned performer. Her nuanced and layered Abhinaya and strong and graceful Nritta have won praises and excellent reviews from the critics as well as Rasikas.

Gurus & Training

  • Initiated into Bharatanatyam at the age of five under Sri. A. Unnikrishnan at Sadanam Institute, Kerala. Later she started pursuing the artform seriously under the able tutelage of Guru. Smt. Shobanaa Bhalchandra and has been training under her for more than a decade. Currently she is also mentored by Sri Vaibhav Arekar exploring the creative process and possibilities.  She has a Masters in Fine Arts (Bharatanatyam) from Bharatidasan University. She is the founder and director of Vibhavana Foundation based in Bangalore.

  • Trained in the discipline of Karanas. Underwent Karanasangeetham course part 1 conducted by Smt. Nirupama Rajendra. Currently pursuing advanced studies in Natyasastra and Karanas from Dr. Sujatha Mohan

  • Underwent training in Nattuvangam from Guru Sri. Kiran Subramaniam for a year.

 

  • Formative training in Mohiniattom under Smt. Vinitha Nedungadi.

 

  • She is a serious practitioner of Hata Yoga. Her involvement and pursuit for further understanding led her to undergo programs conducted by Isha Yoga Foundation, (Coimbatore) to deepen her practices and experience Yoga beyond the physical aspect.

 

  • She was also trained in Carnatic music and violin for a brief period of time. Indu has also been fortunate to learn ‘Ottanthullal’, a Kerala native art form and the basics of Kathakali.
